Tuesday

The first day back after a vacation is always hard; somehow, we managed to pull it off. Miraculously, we found milk in the fridge that wasn't spoiled, for cereal this morning. Lunches were a bit hodgepodge, but respectable. I realized after school that Cal had gone all day sockless; other than that, the day went without incident. It felt good to grocery shop this morning. Just the basics - no long list of ingredients, no specialty foods - the things that have characterized so much of my shopping since Thanksgiving. Just, you know, apples, oranges, bananas. Bread, milk, rice, beans, pasta. Broccoli.

Did you see this article? Four miles a day, seven days a week. Yikes.

Loved this facebook challenge via Jess:

1. Find out the song that was #1 the week you were born.
2. Find that song on YouTube.
3. Post that video on your wall without shame.

I used this calculator. Mine is Sugar, Sugar by The Archies. What's yours?

Eddie Fisher - Lady Of Spain
Mario Lanza - Because You're Mine

I couldn't find my particular week's hit, just by month. These two come from 11/52. They may have not have been keeping weekly hit data that long ago. I find it interesting that I don't know these songs at all. By the time I was aware of music, there had been a shift to Elvis and beyond.

We just returned home yesterday. The first thing I did was grocery shop for simple basics. My song is To Sir With Love - Lulu. I didn't know it by title, but found it and listened. It seems from such an innocent time...

hello Lecia: I am new to your blog (and already loving it!). I was introduce to it by Denise (at Chez Danisse). My song was Neil Young's Heart of Gold. Happy new year!
