Above: at my sister and brother-in-law's home in Connecticut.
Hello again. We've been in New York and Connecticut, spending time with family and friends and celebrating a marriage.
We're back home, and glad to be here. I'm glad to have slept in my own bed last night, to drink my own kind of coffee out of my own mug, to sit with a cat in my lap. I'm glad for the familiar sight and smell and sound of the ocean.
And I'm disoriented and jet-lagged, looking at all the things that need my attention. I'm bundled up, unused to 65 degrees in the morning. The boys, upstairs, are making up for a week's worth of play, reacquainting themselves with their rooms and their toys and a neighbor. Alexi is back at work, tired, trying to catch up from the time away.
All of us, in our separate ways, will carry the week of family, of full-on summer, of new experiences, with us, for some time to come.
